• Emerging Talk has been advertised as “A $100K entrepreneurial conversation” but what are the non-monetary attributes that make this an valuable event?

  In 2010 we hosted the inaugural Emerging Talk. We held a cross-disciplinary meeting. It was a healthy mixture of administrators and student entrepreneurs. During the meeting we struggled to determine the event’s format. We couldn’t answer the question, “What’s valuable to a student with an idea?”

  The meeting ended, we prepared to leave, and then we noticed that at the end of the long meeting table a collection of student entrepreneurs had gathered. They were making deals.

  We’re trying to recreate that atmosphere. A place where students, business owners, and even an investor or two can meet and find common ground.
